Alternate AMFA-SWA ASAP ERC Representative Election – 2019
Candidate Profiles

In an effort to provide AMFA members with basic information about candidates for union office, AMFA National has offered all candidates in this election an opportunity to submit a Candidate Profile along with their picture. Profiles were limited to 400 words and are unedited except for inappropriate content. AMFA National neither endorses any candidate for union office nor was any candidate given special treatment.

Candidates

Michael Stanley

My name is Michael Stanley and I have been your Alternate ERC ASAP Representative for the last year and a half. Over the tenure of my time at Southwest I have had held multiple positions such as Shop Rep, Local 11 Picket Captain and most recently Alternate ASAP Representative.

During my time as the Alternate ASAP Representative I have learned how the program operates and a greater knowledge of the Southwest Aviation Safety Action Program Memorandum of Understanding. At the end of the day my goal is to help the membership. I would love to continuing serving Southwest AMFA members.

Scott Van de Motter

I’ve worked for Atlantic Coast Airlines, Skywest Airlines and I’ve been with Southwest Airlines for 4 years. I am seeking this position to further serve the AMFA membership. I was elected AMFA local 4 Vice President in 2016.

As Vice President of AMFA local 4 for the last two years I have tried to improve communications with the members by starting the Local 4 Facebook page. This page has grown to become the most active way for members to communicate on the internet today. While serving as VP I also organized, along with the picketing committee, the most successful picketing event to date. We had over 100 mechanics and several flight attendants and pilots attend our event. I was awarded AMFA Local Officer of the Year by AMFA national in 2017.

If elected to this position I look forward to helping our membership to understand the ASAP process and get a better insight of how the system works.
