JetBlue Maintenance Controllers File Representation Cards with NMB for AMFA, the Only Craft-Specific Independent Aviation Union Representing Aircraft Maintenance Technicians

Centennial, Colo. – August 13, 2021 – Today, The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) is proud to announce that it has filed for union representation with the National Mediation Board (NMB) on behalf of the Aircraft Maintenance Controllers at JetBlue.

“AMFA is elated that this workgroup has placed its confidence in us as their craft specific union representation,” said Bret Oestreich, AMFA National Director.

The aircraft maintenance controllers, in a grassroots card drive in favor of AMFA’s union representation, collected authorization cards from more than 80% of the professionals in their workgroup that fall under the Craft or Class of Mechanics and Related eligible employees.

Currently, the maintenance controllers have no union representation. The JetBlue organizers said they expect having AMFA as their collective bargaining representative will strengthen their role and relevance as professional stakeholders at JetBlue.

“AMFA looks forward to working with these dedicated professionals to elevate their standards by improving their wages, benefits, and working conditions while strengthening and unifying their workgroup,” said Oestreich.

“It’s long overdue for union representation within their workgroup,” said Oestreich. “We are very excited for this opportunity to represent such a professional and dedicated group and we look forward to becoming their chosen union representative, pending a successful representation election.”
