Dear Jazz Aviation, LP AMEs and Related Skilled Trade Groups:
My name is Bret Oestreich, National President of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) and I have 34 years in the aviation industry as an FAA-licensed A&P Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT). I want to personally thank you for your critical contributions to aviation safety and operations. Your knowledge, skill, and integrity are essential to ensuring the safety of the public and the success of aviation maintenance worldwide. You share our values and deserve recognition for the dedication and professionalism you bring to your craft.
We’re excited to inform you that on November 29, 2024, we filed for certification as the bargaining agent for you and your colleagues at Jazz Aviation, LP and Jazz Technical Services (JTS) with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB).
AMFA is proud to represent skilled aviation professionals like you across North America. Our recent successes in Canada include certifications at L3 Harris MAS, WestJet Airlines, and Calm Air, and we are a large part of the growing craft-specific labor movement in Canada.
AMFA is unique in that we represent only one craft and class of aviation professionals, allowing us to avoid conflicts of interest and prioritize our members' needs. Unlike other unions with centralized hierarchies, AMFA’s Constitution empowers its members, ensuring their voices guide our direction.
We understand the challenges and misinformation you have faced during your grassroots organizing effort. Despite opposition, your resilience and engagement are paving the way for change. By uniting with AMFA, we can ensure that Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) and skilled trade groups in Canada gain the respect, recognition, and support they deserve.
We stand with you and ask for your support in this movement to bring AMFA’s independent, craft/trade-specific representation to Jazz. Together, we can achieve a brighter future for AMEs in Canada and across North America.
