Furlough Arbitration Decision at Alaska Airlines
Sep 30, 2020

September 25, 2020

Dear AMFA-Alaska Airlines Members:

We wanted to provide all of you with an update on the recent ruling and its implications. The recent arbitration ruling for Letter of Agreement #9, determined that at the six protected stations (Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, San Diego, and San Francisco) no furloughs will result in station layoff through the amendable date of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), currently October 17, 2023.

Additionally, AMFA represented employees in all unprotected stations, if downsized due to lack of demand for aircraft utilization, may bump in accordance with the CBA into a protected station.

AMFA and Alaska will continue to collaborate to best plan staff based on need during these challenging times. Fortunately, we have worked hard together, to avoid any involuntary impact to AMFA represented employees thus far.

Thank you for your continued efforts to work safely and compliantly during this time of much change.

AMFA and M&E Leadership

Jarod Mills, AMFA, Airline Representative, Local 14
Mark Dahl, AMFA, Airline Representative, Local 32
Earl Clark, AMFA, Region I Director
