Assistant National Director Letter to JetBlue MX Controllers
Aug 19, 2021

August 19, 2021

Dear JetBlue Maintenance Controllers:

On Friday, August 13, 2021, AMFA filed for a representation dispute on your behalf with the National Mediation Board (NMB) for the JetBlue Maintenance Controller work group. We have been assigned NMB Case No. CR-7230, and Investigator Josie G.M. Bautista has been assigned to the case.

The NMB has instructed JetBlue Airways to provide a list of potential eligible voters and signature samples for each employee on the list by 10:00am et on August 31, 2021. Then, over the next several months or perhaps sooner, the NMB Investigator will conduct an investigation to validate the authenticity of your overwhelming number of signed authorization cards by comparing them with the signature samples provided by JetBlue. The Investigator will also determine that a majority of the JetBlue Maintenance Controllers are seeking an election for union representation. Finally, when all previous requirements are satisfied, we expect that the Investigator will eventually schedule a Representation Dispute Election. If an election is held, a Notice of Election will be posted at JetBlue and detailed voting instructions will be sent to all employees.

It is important that you understand your right to select your representative without carrier influence or interference. Under the Railway Labor Act, “No carrier, its officers, or agents shall deny or in any way question the right of its employees to join, organize, or assist in organizing the labor organization of their choice, and it shall be unlawful for any carrier to interfere in any way with the organization of its employees…” The Carrier is not permitted to influence, interfere, or coerce employees in any manner in an effort to induce them to refrain from participating in an election should there be one. Alleged violations may be reported to AMFA’s Attorneys and/or in writing to the National Mediation Board, Office of Legal Affairs, 1301 K Street, NW, Suite 250 East, Washington, DC 20005.

We would like to thank you for placing your confidence in AMFA. We appreciate all of your hard work and would like to particularly recognize the diligence of your grassroots JetBlue Organizing Committee in collecting Authorization for Representation Cards from the professionals in your classification.

Additionally, we assure you that we will only present fact-based information about AMFA and our track record, so you can make an informed decision prior to your vote with the NMB.  We encourage you to stay informed and continue your vigilance against any propaganda and smear campaign attempts that may be initiated by JetBlue Airways.
