The AMFA-SWA FMT Negotiating Committee (the “Committee”) is providing this update to the Facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT) Membership at Southwest Airlines. This is the only official authorized source of negotiating communications by the Committee.
The Committee would like to announce that it has reached a Tentative Agreement (“TA”) with Southwest Airlines on the terms for a second collective bargaining agreement (“CBA”) for the FMT group. As you will recall from the Committee’s November update, the Parties were scheduled to reconvene January 17-19 to continue collective bargaining negotiations. In that same update, we expressed optimism the Parties would continue to make negotiation progress electronically prior to the January session; and in fact, that is exactly what occurred. Both committees worked diligently over the past month to find common ground and close the remaining negotiation gaps.
The Parties will now commence the process of finalizing this TA for your review and consideration through the ratification process. The Committee anticipates a full TA will be available for your review after the holidays at the beginning of the new year. The Committee would like to thank the negotiators from both sides of the table for their professionalism, which has produced a TA for the FMT group in less than six (6) months from commencement of the first bargaining session.
