
AMFA was certified at Alaska Airlines (ASA) on March 30, 1998, and the Association currently represents approximately 630 ASA members who maintain the airline's fleet of 737s. The current contract is the fourth AMFA – ASA negotiated contract, and the amendable date is October 17, 2016.

The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) has announced a tentative agreement with Alaska Airlines on a proposed five-year contract for the carrier’s 626 aircraft technicians and related employees. The proposed contract includes annual pay raises, additional job protection provisions, and a commitment to minimize health care cost increases.

On August 17th and 18th, we met with the Company in Seattle at the Centerpoint Business Center. We started where we left off in July, working on our Article 3 Status language. When the committees ended our session in July, we believed we were very close to an agreement on this language, but Alaska handed us a new document with many of our agreed to changes, back to the original language.

On July 5th through July 8th, we met with the Company in Seattle at the Centerpoint Business Center. The Company started with an opening statement stating their hopes of making big strides toward finishing up these negotiations and giving our members a pay raise. The first item requiring an answer was our proposal on Article 3, "Status of Agreement."

On May 31 and June 1, we met with the Company in Seattle at the Centerpoint Business Center. We opened the talks with our proposal on Article 3, "Status of Agreement ". The Company stated that they would like to have their Legal Department review our language changes and possibly discuss it with AMFA Legal for clarification.

On April 18th thru the 21st we met with the Company in Seattle at the Centerpoint business center. For the week, our committee was planning to negotiate improvements to our Article 2 Scope language.

We met with the Company in Anchorage at the Regional Office building on March 29th. The committee normally does not like one-day negotiations, but this one was productive. We got right to work, working on Vacation items we were discussing during our last session in Seattle on March 11th.

We met with the Company in Seattle at the flight operations building on March 10th and at the Centerpoint Conference center on March 11th. We immediately discussed concern over the cancelation of several of our future negotiation dates. Several dates have been canceled due to changing schedules and upcoming vacations. We then discussed the possible creation of TDY language.

On February 22th thru the 25th we met with the Company in Seattle at the Centerpoint Business Center. We began with several Union proposals to enhance, and Company proposals to clarify the layoff process as outlined in Article 9. This led to lengthy discussions culminating in an enhanced selection process.

On January 6th and 7th we met with the Company in Seattle at the Cederbrook Lodge. We started with going over a spread sheet that combined proposals from both groups. We then went though the proposals and rated them between 1 and 4 with 1 being an easy issue to 4 being the more difficult issues.

On behalf of our members, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) donated a bust of Charles E. Taylor to the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA on August 11, 2010. The bust, which will be on display in the museum’s Red Barn exhibit, is intended to increase the awareness of Charles E.

| Tada Yotsuuye Presented with 45 Year Pin at Alaska Airlines |

AMFA member Tada Yotsuuye was presented his 45 year pin at Alaska Airlines on June 17th in the Alaska Airlines hangar in Seattle. Many co-workers, friends, and family members were present to observe the celebration and recognize Tada for his extended service.
