July 28, 2026 -- The second quarter of 2026 was marked by significant progress across AMFA. From organizing and collective bargaining to legislative advocacy and member representation, our union continued advancing the interests of aircraft maintenance professionals throughout North America.
June 18, 2026 -- The parties last met in Toronto, Ontario, from June 8-10 in person and continue to meet virtually, to discuss the final details of an agreement in principle that will provide improvements to wages, premiums, and benefits pursuant to Appendix F of the collective agreement.
June 11, 2026 -- On June 11, 2026, the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) notified the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association’s (AMFA) legal counsel that it will process AMFA’s Application for Reconsideration of the CIRB’s prior decision. The IAMAW and Intervenor group will be given an opportunity to submit briefs related to the reconsideration.
June 4, 2026 -- AMFA leadership, including AMFA National President Bret Oestreich, met this week with senior officials and political decision-makers in Ottawa to highlight members’ concerns about a range of issues facing the industry.

April 28, 2026 -- The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA), the certified labor union representing the skilled aircraft technicians and related employees who keep Spirit aircraft safe and flying, supports relief for the airline — but any such relief should include protections for frontline workers, including layoff protections and limits on executive compensation.
February 12, 2026 -- Since 2012, Sean Askin has worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer for L3 Harris at the Trenton Air Force Base. On the morning of November 13, 2025, during an active military mission, Askin responded to a maintenance defect on a CC-150 Polaris aircraft.
January 15, 2026 -- The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) has filed for certification to represent Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) at Ornge Air as of January 12, 2026. The filing covers the AMEs responsible for maintaining Ornge’s AW139 medium twin helicopters and Pilatus PC-12 NG single-engine turboprops, which support the largest integrated air ambulance and critical care land ambulance operation in Canada and serve patients across Ontario.
