The AMFA-Spirit Negotiating Committee (the “Committee”) is providing this update to the Membership at Spirit Airlines (“Spirit”). This is the only official source of negotiating communications by the Committee.

The Parties held a three-day bargaining session, January 20-22, 2026, at Spirit Headquarters in Dania Beach, Florida. This was our first mediated bargaining session since August 2025 due to the federal government shutdown and Spirit’s second bankruptcy. This was our eleventh session with the NMB mediators.

During our bargaining session, we continued our discussions with the Company representatives on all topics of bankruptcy. We focused on how the bankruptcy is affecting you – particularly on schedules and staffing. Your AMFA Representatives have been sharing your stories and messages to the Company about how scheduling can be improved for the valued Technicians who are continuing at Spirit.

Over the three days, we continued bargaining: Article 4 – Classifications; Article 5 – Hours of Service; Article 11 – Filling of Vacancies; and Article 12 – Furlough and Recall. These are articles the Parties have been working on for multiple sessions and were challenging to bargain. During the session, several proposals were made by both AMFA and the Company on each of these articles.

On Article 4 – Classifications, we reached a “contingent TA” leaving economic-related items for later discussions. The last issues were the qualifications and procedures to be designated Senior AMT and minor clean-up, which closed at the start of Day 2.

On Article 5 – Hours of Service, we also reached a “contingent TA,” leaving economic-related items such as the possibilities for paid lunch on certain shifts/positions for later. The final issues on scheduling and minimum provisions of the Company’s trade/swap policy were brought to alignment.

For Article 11 – Filling of Vacancies, the Parties made proposals, understanding the full layout of the Classifications article and the S-AMT designation. With this understanding on Classifications, we were able to find alignment and clean-up the issues on bidding and filling both permanent and temporary vacancies. We are confident these TA’d terms will give the Company flexibility they identified and you the stability and opportunities to exercise your seniority to bid the best positions and shifts/days off for you and your families.

For Article 12 – Furlough and Recall, the open issues were the procedures if the Company has to do a “reduction in force” after a CBA is ratified. The Parties seem to be closely aligned on the orderly procedures and protecting your options in exercising your hard-earned seniority. After trading proposals, on Day 3, AMFA made another counterproposal on Furlough and Recall, which we hope will bring the Parties to a TA on that article during our next scheduled session.

Given the difficult circumstances of bargaining during Spirit’s bankruptcy, we appreciate the Company’s negotiators for their open dialogue and engagement. We are hopeful the pace of bargaining can now continue coming out of this session to reach a full agreement that your hard work and dedication to Spirit has earned.

The next mediated session is scheduled for February 17-19, 2026, in Dania Beach, Florida.

Thank you to everybody that has reached out to your ALR, Jason Salazar, and your Negotiator-at-Large, Ernie Harris, to offer your strong support for this Committee. These are challenging times at Spirit. If you need information or want to discuss something, your ALR and this Committee is here for you.

Remember – stay engaged, remain informed, and continue to support the Negotiating Committee as that support increases the ability to bargain a CBA your hard work deserves.

Fraternally,

AMFASpirit Negotiating Committee
