Status of Negotiations at Spirit Airlines
Jul 21, 2025

July 18, 2025

Dear Members,

We hear you and share your concern with the pace of our negotiations with Spirit Airlines. Since the beginning of these negotiations, AMFA has pushed to bargain a first collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that rewards our hard work and contributions to Spirit. We have negotiated aggressively to bring you compensation, benefits and language protections that are not only aligned with AMFA CBAs throughout the industry but that also are unique to what we do as aircraft maintenance technicians and related employees at Spirit. Reaching a comprehensive tentative CBA sooner rather than later is important to us and you.

With timeliness in mind, we continue to push for a CBA that rewards and protects you. We will not simply accept the Company's proposals because that is the fastest route forward. That approach does not benefit us as a group.

We understand the importance of keeping you informed of what occurs at the table. As you will recall, AMFA requested observers be allowed into the negotiating room and Spirit denied that request. Despite the Company's rejection of observers, as your negotiators, we strive to provide detailed written updates following each negotiation session. Every one of these written updates is available on the AMFA National website.

In addition, Jason, your elected Airline Representative (ALR) has not been allowed by the Company to visit station locations on property to keep you informed face-to-face. After continued discussions with the Company, it does appear this could change soon, and Jason will be allowed to visit stations on property and in person to update you on negotiations and other important work issues. Aside from this, every member should not hesitate to call or e-mail Jason or Ernest and ask any question you have related to negotiations. You should also feel free to call or e-mail Jason to inquire about any other work-related issue or concern. As your negotiators and ALR we are here for you. Our phone numbers and e-mail are at the end of this letter.

You will remember that AMFA presented the first comprehensive package designed to streamline the bargaining process. AMFA also filed for mediation after that comprehensive package to bring a federal mediator to our table to help us achieve a prompt CBA. Unfortunately, Spirit's bankruptcy restructuring and failed mergers created delays. Yet, despite all of this, we have continued to negotiate with an aggressive approach while keeping an open mind for unique solutions to find common ground. To that end, the relationship between each side's negotiators has improved and the ability to find areas of alignment through open conversation gives us optimism that we can push forward with an accelerated pace to present you with a CBA your hard work has earned.

As negotiators, we maintain a tracking sheet, which shows the articles of the CBA as it is being built and whether those articles have been tentatively agreed (TA) and which side (i.e., Company or AMFA) owes responses to the articles that have not been TA'ed. This tracking sheet keeps us organized and focused. We are attaching a copy of this tracking sheet to this letter so you, our members, can share in that view and see how many articles have been TA'ed and which party owes responses on the remaining open articles. We will strive to provide an updated version of the sheet following each negotiation session.

Staying informed is of the utmost importance because only through knowledge and active engagement do we achieve the solidarity needed to reach a CBA of which we can all be proud. Your engagement, support and solidarity are the biggest source of leverage we have as negotiators, and we are immensely thankful for your participation in this process.

Thank you,

Jason Salazar, AMFA-NK ALR, 214-507-5623, jason.salazar@amfa4.com
Ernest Harris, AMFA-NK Negotiator-at-Large, 954-632-2053, boston-redsox1@hotmail.com
