Subject: AMFA NMB Filing Update
Dear AMFA-Represented Members at Alaska Airlines & Future Hawaiian Members:
Eligibility Lists Request:
The NMB has requested from both carriers, Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines, an eligibility list that includes all members who were on payroll prior to May 13, 2025. Once both carriers have submitted these eligibility lists to the NMB, then the Unions will have a period to review the submitted lists and submit objections as necessary. AMFA and its legal team will be reviewing these lists to ensure that all active members in good standing are accounted for and represented. Eligibility also includes any members who are on active military leave, FMLA, and furlough. Our review will also ensure that all names that are on the lists are active employees of either carrier and that their job descriptions fit into the Mechanics and Related craft and class. The deadline for the carriers to submit these eligibility lists to the NMB is August 14, 2025.
Showing of Interest:
Upon the single-carrier determination from the NMB dated July 31, 2025, the NMB has set a 30-day period for any intervenor to submit their showing of interest or “representation cards” to the NMB. The IAM needs to submit by our calculations, approximately 70 signed cards from Alaska employees to meet the 50% criteria of the combined workforce from both carriers. These cards would have to be current AMFA members who have signed IAM representation cards in support of the IAM. This calculation includes the current IAM-represented groups at Hawaiian. The groups of eligibility will be challenged, once the carriers have submitted the lists to the NMB by August 14, 2025. The current deadline for the IAM to submit their showing of interest to the NMB is August 29, 2025.
AMFA is committed to providing its membership with accurate and updated information as the information is released. Continue to reach out to Jeff Heard (L32 ALR) or Brandon Statfield (L14 ALR)
with any questions or if clarification is needed. If there is a representation election, the NMB will be utilizing paper/mail-in ballots, and the membership will have approximately 8-10 weeks to submit their ballots. There has been NO decision rendered by the NMB at this time regarding a representation election.
Sincerely,
Brandon Statfield, AMFA Local 14 ALR
Jeff Heard, AMFA Local 32 ALR
