The AMFA-Spirit Negotiating Committee (the “Committee”) is providing this update to the Membership at Spirit Airlines (“Spirit”). This is the only official source of negotiating communications by the Committee.

The parties were scheduled for a three-day bargaining session, March 24-26, 2026, in Chicago. Due to Company travel issues and as directed by the Mediator, the session was changed to a two-day video conference on March 25-26. This was our thirteenth session with NMB mediators.

During this bargaining session, we continued discussions with the Company representatives on the status of the Company’s exit from bankruptcy. These discussions included topics such as future fleet size and maintenance footprint.

On Day 1, the Company presented a counterproposal on Article 6 – Overtime. The Company’s proposal still excluded the counting of vacation hours and sick leave taken, among other things, to the forty hours per week. Citing higher future costs, the Company’s proposal still mostly mirrors current practice. AMFA strongly disagrees with these procedures and will continue to negotiate for proper and fair overtime rules. The parties made progress on overtime selection and administration procedures.

The Company then presented its first counterproposal on Article 18 – Retirement. The Company did not commit to maintaining the current 6% match; instead, it preferred to hold that discussion for economic reasons.

The parties spent the rest of the day in caucus, reviewing and preparing their next proposals.

On Day 2, the parties started with a Company counterproposal on Article 13 – Vacations. The Company proposed a 40-hour carry-over with no pay-out of additional unused vacation. The parties held discussions over the vacation bidding procedures and how you might bid for weeks or days of vacation to ensure a fair approach.

The Company then made its first counterproposal on Union Representation and Union Leave. There was some alignment in this Article, and the parties had productive discussions on the issues that had not been discussed since 2023, including AMFA’s structure and the role of each of AMFA’s union representatives.

After a brief caucus, AMFA presented its counterproposal on Article 6 – Overtime. This brought the parties closer to alignment on the entire Article, but we remain apart on economic items within the Article. These issues are now tabled until a discussion on economics.

Your Committee then made its counterproposal on Article 18 – Retirement, which struck the Company’s “general population” terminology and proposed a me-too provision tied to any employee group except the pilots, as is common for U.S. carriers.

The parties then caucused for the rest of the day and did not reconvene.

AMFA is prepared for the next session. The next mediated session is scheduled for April 28-30, in Chicago. The Mediator also scheduled mediated negotiation dates for June, July, and August.

Thank you to everybody who has reached out to your Committee to offer your strong support. If you need information or want to discuss something, your ALR and this Committee are here for you. Remember – stay engaged, remain informed, and continue to support the Negotiating Committee, as that support increases the ability to bargain for a CBA that your hard work deserves.

Fraternally,

AMFASpirit Negotiating Committee
