Subject: AMFA NMB Filing Update
Dear AMFA-Represented Members at Alaska Airlines:
Today, July 30, 2025, the National Mediation Board (NMB) issued a decision finding that Alaska and Hawaiian airlines constitute a single transportation system with respect to union representation for the craft or class of Mechanics and Related Employees. The Board will now initiate an election process to determine the representative of the combined group.
On May 13, 2025, as part of its single carrier petition, AMFA submitted to the Board the requisite "showing of interest" that ensures that AMFA will be on the election ballot. The Board's decision grants
the IAM thirty (30) days to submit a similar showing of interest in order to secure a position on the ballot.
AMFA will keep Alaska and Hawaiian employees advised of all future developments in this process and will make every effort to protect your democratic right to select the union representative of your choice. We are working closely with the AMFA Merger Committee as this process begins to pick up. Additional information will be communicated via email, text, and all social media accounts. Please feel free to reach out to your respective ALRs for any additional information or clarity on the NMB process.
Sincerely,
Brandon Statfield, AMFA Local 14 ALR
Jeff Heard, AMFA Local 32 ALR
