September 2, 2025
Dear AMFA-Represented Members at Alaska Airlines & Future Hawaiian Members:
On August 18, 2025, the IAM submitted their showing of interest documentation to the NMB without serving AMFA with a copy. As a result, the NMB failed to notify AMFA of the filing by the IAM. The NMB advised AMFA on September 2, 2025, that they will begin the process of reviewing the showing of interest filing by the IAM and will notify both Unions in approximately 1-3 weeks if the IAM provided sufficient documentation to meet the NMB requirements.
Please review the attached eligibility lists that were provided to the NMB by the respective carriers. We encourage everyone to verify that their name is on the list with correct spelling, current station, and current classification of work. We want to make sure everyone’s right to vote is protected.
The NMB has set a September 16, 2025, deadline for challenges to eligibility, including objections to the inclusion of classifications who do not share a community of interest with Mechanics and Related Employees. Responses or objections to any challenges submitted are due to the NMB by September 30, 2025.
There are indications the NMB may run eligibility objections and an election on parallel tracks. The NMB would look at all objections to Class and Craft if the election is close, to where the objections could make a difference in the election results. This process is the same process that the NMB has used in prior representation elections.
AMFA is committed to the continued dissemination of information to its membership. Any further updates will be distributed by Local 14 and Local 32 channels. Please reach out to your respective ALR for any further information or clarity.
Deadlines:
- September 16: Challenges to the eligibility lists submitted to the NMB
- September 30: Responses/Objections to any objections made on September 16
Sincerely,
Brandon Statfield, AMFA Local 14 ALR
Jeff Heard, AMFA Local 32 ALR
