AMFA would like to formally welcome the Hawaiian Airlines membership to the AMFA family at Alaska Airlines. The NMB Union Representation election was a test of our solidarity, commitment to our craft, and a bold statement to the aviation maintenance and related craft and class industry. Now that the representation election is over, the work begins on joining the two work groups at Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines.
AMFA Locals 14 and 32 have begun the administrative process of getting new members to register with AMFA. There are 900+ new members who need to get registered and assigned AMFA numbers. This process will take some time and has already begun. Once the new members have been registered, AMFA will begin the Shop and Area Representation election process. AMFA is now administering the IAM-Hawaiian Airlines Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), also known as the “brown book.” The legacy Hawaiian members remain under the “brown book” until a successor JCBA is in place.
AMFA will be soliciting for an ISL & JCBA Committee on the Legacy Hawaiian side. These committees will be comprised of Hawaiian Airlines members and will be negotiating the Integrated Seniority List and advising the AMFA negotiation committee as Subject Matter Experts (SME) during JCBA negotiations. These committees will be nominated and voted upon by the Hawaiian Airlines membership.
Nominations/Elections will begin as soon as administratively feasible, upon completion of getting the new membership registered with AMFA. Alaska Airlines and AMFA are ready to begin the process towards a JCBA. We anticipate the JCBA process to take roughly 8-12 months before a Tentative Agreement (TA) is reached and presented to the membership for ratification. Until JCBA, both legacy Alaska and Hawaiian members will remain under their current CBA. Please reach out to your respective ALR for any additional information.
