October 9, 2024 -- Following successful certifications at L3 Harris MAS in 2022 and WestJet in 2023, AMFA proudly announces that after a grassroots organizing effort, the union filed a representation request with the Canada Industrial Relations Board on October 7, 2024, for AMEs and skilled trades at Calm Air.

AMFA was certified at WestJet on March 30, 2023, and the Association currently represents approximately 670 aircraft maintenance engineers and skilled trade groups. The current contract becomes amendable July 1, 2029.

L3 Harris MAS

AMFA was certified at L3 Harris Mas (L3) on October 18, 2022, and the Association currently represents approximately 40 L3 members who are a distinct, federally regulated trade group responsible for the repair and certification of the CC150 Polaris aircraft fleet, air-to-air refueling aircraft, and the Prime Minister’s aircraft.

The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association is a craft-oriented, independent aviation union. It is not an industrial union and represents only aircraft maintenance technicians/engineers (AMT/AME) and related skilled trade groups actively involved in the aviation industry. These employees work directly on aircraft and/or components, support equipment, and facilities in accordance with the National Mediation Board (NMB) or Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) rules. AMFA is committed to achieving progressive improvements in wages, benefits, and working conditions and elevating the standing of the skilled professionals it represents.
