The AMFA-Southwest Negotiating Committee (the “Committee”) is providing this update to the Membership at Southwest Airlines (“Southwest”). This is the only official source of negotiating communications.
The Committee held two separate introductory meetings on Monday, June 8, 2026, in Dallas to discuss the process and protocol for upcoming collective bargaining negotiations for the Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMT), covered by the Blue Book, and Facilities Maintenance Technicians (FMT), covered by the Brown Book. A similar introductory meeting would have been held for the Aircraft Appearance Technicians (AATs) covered by the Orange Book, but the Company’s negotiating committee for this group was unavailable. That meeting will be scheduled when Company negotiators are available.
The parties introduced their respective negotiators and discussed logistics for the upcoming negotiations, including location, timing, and procedure. AMFA discussed its preference to hold negotiating meetings off Company property and to meet at locations throughout the system. The Company had no objection to this request. The parties also discussed AMFA’s policy of welcoming observers to negotiation sessions.
The parties agreed upon initial dates to commence the collective bargaining process. The first full session for AMT negotiations will be August 17-21 in Denver. Additional dates agreed upon for AMT negotiations, with location to be determined, are as follows: August 31-September 3; September 28-October 4; and November 16-20. The first dates for FMT negotiations will be November 30-December 4 in Dallas.
Your Committee looks forward to commencing the bargaining process and negotiating agreements that reward your hard work and dedication to Southwest.
Fraternally,
AMFA-SWA FMT Negotiating Committee
