AMFA NMB Filing Update #2
May 12, 2025

Subject: AMFA NMB Filing Update

Dear AMFA-Represented Members at Alaska Airlines:

The Alaska/Hawaiian Merger committee has continued its work of informative recruiting on the islands of Hawaii, for those Hawaiian Aircraft Technicians. There has been an ongoing effort to organize the IAM-represented technicians throughout the system. This effort has received positive support from the HA Techs, as well as a reactionary measure from the IAM. We will continue to distribute information to the members at both carriers, as the merger between the two Unionized work groups gets underway.

On May 12, 2025, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) officially filed for Single Carrier determination with the National Mediation Board (NMB). The next step in the process, is to allow the NMB to make a single carrier determination, in which the NMB has already ruled for both the Pilot and Flight Attendant work groups. We anticipate this ruling from the NMB in approximately 6 weeks. Upon the ruling, the NMB will be deciding that there is Single Carrier representation for Unionized work groups for the Mechanics and Related Crafts at both Carriers of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.

Alaska Airlines will at that time need to submit the current seniority lists for the represented members and the NMB will determine the collective class and craft for the merger work force. The NMB will also be determining if there is sufficient showing from the two unions and whether a representation election is needed. AMFA seeks to represent the covered classifications of work that are currently represented in the AMFA-Alaska Airlines Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

AMFA is the leading craft and class union for the Aircraft Mechanics and its members for the combined work forces of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. AMFA will continue to support its current
members as well as welcome the new members, once the NMB has its ruling. The AMFA merger committee will continue its campaign throughout the state of California in May. The process forward for the combined work force is going to be lengthy. We will continue to publish information in a timely manner. Thank you to all the represented AMFA members for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Brandon Statfield, AMFA Local 14 ALR
Jeff Heard, AMFA Local 32 ALR
