AMFA has a unique organizational structure driven by membership participation at the Local level. Each Local is governed by its own bylaws approved by the membership. Membership control of their Local is established and enhanced by the AMFA Constitution. The membership is represented by an elected Local Executive Council (LEC), which consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Safety and Standards Chairman. Each airline within a Local is represented by an Airline Representative, who deals with contractual issues. All financial and other information required to be filed by the LEC is made available to the membership, and seats at the LEC meetings are made available to members. Any Local officer or representative is subject to membership recall, and twenty-five percent of the Locals can initiate the recall of any National officer. Locals are comprised of members who are actively engaged in aircraft maintenance or support for any represented carrier. In areas or ancillary stations where there are not sufficient numbers of AMFA members to support an independent Local, these members are assigned to a Local by the National Executive Council.
