Compliance Reminder: Masks, MAX, and Mentoring
Mar 26, 2021

March 26, 2021

Face Masks – Due to the fact that we all work on airport property, which is federally controlled, we are required to adhere to the Federal Mask Mandate. If mask availability is a concern, please report this matter to your local safety representative. In addition to wearing masks, regular hand washing, using hand sanitizer, and social distancing are effective measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

737 MAX – With the 737 MAX return to service, AMTs must be extra vigilant when working on this aircraft. There is a lot of publicity surrounding the MAX and it will be the subject to significantly more scrutiny by the FAA, NTSB, media, and flying public. If you encounter any concerns, stop your task and get sufficient clarification in order for you to confidently sign-off that work.

Mentoring/Training – When performing On-The-Job Training (OJT) the trainer should ensure that the trainee is comfortable with the subject task that has been taught. If the trainee has questions after the task training has been presented, the trainee should speak up and get clarification; the only stupid question is the one that is not asked. The trainer and the trainee should both be confident and comfortable that the subject task has been adequately addressed.

As always stay safe and watch out for yourselves and each other.

In Solidarity,

Scott King
National Safety & Standards Director
