Dear Alaska Airlines Maintenance Controllers:
On behalf of the Officers and Representatives of AMFA, we would like to welcome you to the Association. On February 16, 2022, the National Mediation Board (NMB) accreted the Maintenance Controllers into the Mechanic and Related class and craft at Alaska Airlines (ASA), thus certifying the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) as your collective bargaining agent. This decision came after a long and unconventional process lasting nearly two years. We want to thank you wholeheartedly for your unwavering patience in this long government process to bring you onboard, and we look forward to elevating the standards and increasing the recognition of Maintenance Controllers at Alaska Airlines and across the industry.
All AMFA-ASA Maintenance Controllers have been assigned to Local 14 in Seattle, WA. The Local 14 AS Airline Representative, Jarod Mills, has reached out to Labor Relations to inform them of the NMB’s decision and to schedule a meeting to discuss your general work rules, pay scale, and any workplace agreements that will remain status quo until a letter of agreement (LOA) both parties can agree to is reached and ratified by your workgroup.
We will a arrange an informational meeting with your workgroup to discuss the AMFA protocols and procedures and to answer any questions may have. The Local 14 Local Executive Council (LEC) has approved a Maintenance Control Area Representative, and the nomination process will soon be posted on the Local 14 website. We encourage all members to register with the AMFA National Website (under “Member Resources”) and to download the new AMFA app to your smartphone or tablet. Doing so will ensure that you receive the most up-to-date news from the Association. In addition, you will have access to AMFA news, publications, negotiation updates, and links to National Officers, AMFA Locals, and government agencies.
