AMFA Files Authorization for Representation Cards with NMB on Behalf of Sun Country Airlines Mechanics
CENTENNIAL, CO – February 25, 2022 – The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) is proud to announce that it has filed with the National Mediation Board (NMB) to be the union representative of the aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs) at Sun Country Airlines.
“We are extremely honored that this workgroup has placed its utmost confidence in AMFA to help Sun Country Airlines recognize the importance our skilled, professional craft is to the airline,” said Bret Oestreich, AMFA’s National President.
Sun Country AMTs, in a grassroots card drive in favor of AMFA’s union representation, collected authorization cards from more than 80% of the professionals that fall under the craft or class of Mechanics and Related eligible employees.
The AMTs currently have no union representation. The dedicated grassroots organizers said they are once again excited about their future at Sun Country Airlines, and cannot wait to be part of the AMFA community. With AMFA as their collective bargaining representative, relevance as professional stakeholders at Sun Country Airlines will be emphasized.
“AMFA looks forward in working with these tenured professionals to elevate their standards by improving their wages, benefits, and working conditions while strengthening and unifying their workgroup,” said Oestreich.
“It’s long overdue for union representation of this experienced workgroup,” said Oestreich. “We are elated for this opportunity and we look forward to becoming the chosen union representative for the AMTs at Sun Country Airlines, pending a successful representation election.”
