In accordance with the terms outlined in Article 23, Wage Rules, AMFA and Alaska Airlines met to discuss the annual pay scale wage review on October 3, 2022, via TEAMs conference with the Company in Seattle. We started by doing an external review of our all-in wage compared to the nine carriers referred to in the Alaska Contract; the rates were as of October 17, the day of the Alaska pay rate increase our technicians received. Those all-in rates, which include base pay, license premiums, line premium, and longevity at the top of each of those scales are: (1) Delta $59.59, (2) Southwest $58.87, (3) American $57.43, (4) JetBlue $55.00, (5) Alaska $52.77, (6) United $52.14, (7) Hawaiian $51.29, (8) Frontier $51.00, (9) Allegiant $44.81, and (10) Spirit $37.00. With the all-in pay rates of the carriers we are compared with, the midpoint between number four and number six is $53.15; being our new rate is below the $53.15 midpoint, an additional increase above our two percent (2%) all-in is required to keep us above the midpoint.

Due to the fact Alaska negotiated an agreement in the past twelve months, we then had the ability to conduct an internal review where we look at where our co-workers in other labor groups rank compared to their peers in the industry. The rankings are as follows: Pilots (ALAP) rank sixth, Flight Attendants (AFA) rank fifth, Dispatchers (TWU) rank third, RSA (IAM) rank first, and COPS (IAM) rank first. This puts the average ranking of the labor groups on the property at 3.2 compared to the peers in the industry. Being that our group is ranked number five, which is below three, the Company is obligated to increase our pay over the two percent all-in to put us in the number three position. The new all-in rate -- which includes base pay, license premiums, line premium, and longevity at the top of each of scale -- will be $57.44 due on October 17. This equates to eleven and a half (11.5) percent for each step in the scale.

We continue to monitor our peers’ pay rates as well as our coworkers’ ranking in the industry. With that in mind, the Alaska Pilots are currently voting on an agreement that will put them at number one to their peers; the tally of this vote is October 17. The stage will be set for upcoming negotiations.
