The AMFA-SCA Negotiating Committee is providing this update to the Membership at Sun Country Airlines (SCA). This is the only official authorized source of negotiating communications by the Committee.

The Parties held a two-day bargaining session, December 13-14 in Minneapolis to continue bargaining toward a first collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for the SCA group. The Company, at the outset of Day 1, introduced Kristen Peterson, Senior Director of Labor & Employment, who will be assuming the lead negotiator role for Sun Country going forward in these negotiations. AMFA looks forward to working with Ms. Peterson to reach prompt agreement on a CBA. The Company began Day 1 by presenting a counterproposal on Article 25 – Union Representation. The Parties engaged in productive dialogue regarding the Union Representation article to better assist the Company to understand how AMFA operates at each carrier. The Parties caucused and thereafter AMFA presented a counterproposal on Article 25 – Union Representation and delivered a proposal on Article 12 – Leaves of Absence. The Company presented a counterproposal on Article 17 – Safety and Health.

AMFA began Day 2 by presenting a counterproposal to the Company on Article 17 – Safety and Health. AMFA explained to the Company its focus on safety and how the AMFA safety structure would work within Sun Country. The Parties caucused to allow the Company to review AMFA’s counterproposal but reconvened shortly thereafter as AMFA was prepared to present its proposal on Article 7 – Training. The Company then caucused to consider these articles and continue work on counterproposals to articles previously passed by AMFA. The Company returned in the afternoon and presented counterproposals on Article 12 – Leaves of Absence; Article 3 – Status of Agreement; and Article 25 – Union Representation. The Parties engaged in productive discussion on these articles. The amount and magnitude of changes made by the Company to Article 3 - Status were concerning and will require substantial review. However, the Parties continued productive discussion and were able to close the bargaining gap on Article 12 – Leaves of Absence and Article 25 – Union Representation. Your Committee spent the remainder of Day 2 in caucus preparing counterproposals in advance of the next scheduled session.

AMFA will continue to prepare counterproposals and additional articles in advance of the next session, which is scheduled for January 3-5 in Minneapolis. In addition, the Parties were able to agree on a series of bargaining dates through May 2023.

If you would like to be an observer in future negotiation sessions, please communicate with your ALR. Stay engaged, remain informed, and continue to support the Negotiating Committee as that support increases the Committee’s ability to bargain a CBA your hard work deserves.

Fraternally,

AMFA-SCA Negotiating Committee
