April 24, 2017
Dear AMFA–SWA AMTs:
The National Executive Committee (NEC) would like to thank everyone who participated in the AMFA–SWA Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) Survey that concluded on April 20, 2017. The NEC continues to make improving communications a priority, and this survey is one means to facilitate this process.
Several months ago we started an audit and campaign to update member contact information at both the Local and National levels. We discussed many factors in pursuing the most effective ways to improve communication and to build and maintain trust. We looked at several methods to improve communication and to receive membership feedback. The recent web-based survey will help in obtaining the focus and factual, real time information from the 70% silent majority.
In a perfect world, 100% participation is ideal; however, the overall participation rate for this survey was higher than expected. This turnout provides the necessary feedback to be representative of our membership, and it identifies the true pulse of how many of you feel about the current state of SWA negotiations and other stated concerns.
We want to assure you that steps are being taken to preserve the security and confidentiality of data collected from the survey. The data collected is currently being processed and analyzed by a professional survey consulting firm that has been previously utilized by many pilot organizations in the aviation industry. The firm will report their findings to the Chair of your Negotiating Committee only; the Chair will then share the insight and focus with the Negotiating Committee in an effort to bring an acceptable tentative agreement back to the members for a vote.
We want to thank you for your time, effort, and participation in the AMFA–SWA AMT Survey.
Sincerely,
Bret Oestreich
National Director
