AMFA President Bret Oestreich, Issued the Following Statement on the Tragic Air Canada Express Accident:

“The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association and its aircraft maintenance members at Jazz Aviation are heartbroken by the tragic loss of two Jazz Aviation pilots in the accident involving Air Canada Express Flight 8646 at LaGuardia Airport.

These pilots were more than colleagues—they were our teammates in the shared mission of safely transporting passengers every day. We grieve alongside their families, friends, fellow pilots, and all members of the Jazz Aviation and ALPA community. When we lose pilots, we lose members of our aviation family.

The bond between pilots and aircraft maintenance technicians is built on trust, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to safety. Their dedication to that mission will never be forgotten, and their legacy will live on in every crewmember and technician who continues that work each day.

We also recognize the efforts of first responders and investigators working to understand this tragedy. Today, our focus remains on honoring the lives lost and supporting all those affected.

Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the pilots, as well as the passengers, crew, and our colleagues across the aviation industry. In this time of profound sorrow, we stand in solidarity with the Jazz Master Executive Council, ALPA, and the entire Jazz Aviation family.”
