Aviation Maintenance Technician Day
May 24, 2022

May 24, 2022

Today is Aviation Maintenance Technician Day. AMT Day recognizes the contributions of Charles E. Taylor to the first powered flight in 1903. Working with the Wright Brothers, Taylor added insight that still impacts the aviation industry today and earned him the title of “Father of Aviation Maintenance.” Today, we recognize the many men and women who work behind the scenes to maintain aircraft and protect the flying public.

What AMTs do behind the scenes often goes un-noticed by commercial flyers as most of their work is done before a single passenger boards the plane. They work odd hours, weekends, and holidays in all types to inclement weather to ensure that travelers get where they are going safely. Additionally, AMTs are experienced working in uncertainty and crisis for prevention and response; these men and women are the unsung heroes of aviation, the “Guardians of Air Safety.” Please join us in recognizing and celebrating all AMTs today for their hard work and dedication to public safety.
