Dear Jazz Technical Services AMEs and Related Skilled Trade Groups:
My name is Bret Oestreich, National President of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA). I’ve been in the aviation industry for 34 years and am an FAA-licensed A&P Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT). It’s an honor to address the skilled professionals at Jazz Technical Services (JTS).
Your dedication to safety, skill, and integrity is the foundation of aviation maintenance operations. Whether working in regional, commuter, or major airlines, your critical contributions ensure aircraft safety and success in international airspace. You deserve greater recognition for this essential work, and I thank you personally for all that you do.
On November 29, 2024, AMFA filed an Application for Certification as your bargaining agent with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB).
AMFA is proud to represent skilled trades like yours and we’re excited to welcome you to be a part of our group. After successful certifications at L3 Harris MAS, WestJet, Calm Air, and now filing for Jazz and JTS, we are committed to being the leading voice for aviation maintenance professionals across North America.
AMFA is unique in that we represent only one craft and class of aviation professionals, allowing us to avoid conflicts of interest and prioritize our members’ needs while ensuring that our membership holds the power. We are part of a growing craft/trade-specific labor movement in Canada, and your support is vital to its success.
This grassroots effort has not been without challenges, and we expect that more pushback will come. But with your engagement and determination, we are confident in our ability to bring AMEs the recognition, respect, and support they deserve.
Thank you for standing with AMFA as we advance the interests of aviation maintenance professionals in Canada and beyond.
Sincerely,
Bret Oestreich
National President
